Madeira-Mamoré Railway Construction of the Ferro Madeira-Mamoré railway, a large-scale North American and English project, began in 1907 and was completed in 1912, leaving behind memories of a tragic succession of illnesses and deaths. Having been put out of service on several occasions, the railway was definitely abandoned in 1972, when only a 7-kilometer tract was kept in use for tourism purposes. |
