Another important area touristically and economically from
the state of Acre is the Juruá Valley, the main town
of which is Cruzeiro do Sul. 648 kilometers to the west of
Rio Branco, almost on the frontier with Peru, it is surrounded by backwaters,
river beaches of clear, fine sand, and untouched forest.
Boat trips and fishing trips along the local rivers are part of the
tourist program. Apart from the natural beauty, the town's buildings and monuments
preserve part of the turbulent history of the state.
