The exoterics say that Alto Paraíso, 451 kilometers from
Goiânia, in Goiás, is destined to receive beings chosen
for the higher planes of life, known as the craftsmen of the Age
of Aquarius. Inhabited initially by Goyaz Indians, then occupied
by prospectors in search of gold and precious stones, and later
a wheat growing area, the city is now a tourist center. There are
canyons and waterfalls, and also the strange Vale da Lua (Valley
of the Moon) and the Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park, where
the vegetation remains practically untouched, and the beautiful
falls on the Rio Preto (Black River) are set in some of the most
ancient rock formations in Brazil. The water of the river is clear
but has a dark hue, hence the name.
